While the name may not mean anything to Thrones fans who just watch the TV series, Harry Strickland is a character revealed in the latest book, A Dance with Dragons, as the leader of the Golden Company – the expensive sellsword/mercenary company based in the Free Cities. During the end of season 7, when it was revealed that Cersei (Lena Headey) wasn’t going to send aid to the North to help fright the Night King and his army of the undead, we also learned she sent Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbæk) to bring the Golden Company to Westeros in order to add the much needed muscle to her dwindling army.

This spells good news for Dany (Emilia Clarke) because it debunks the theory that her former lover Daario (Michiel Huisman), who she left to watch over Meereen, will be turning his back on the Mother of Dragons to join Cersei – at least not as the leader of the Golden Company. We still may see Daario make his way to Westeros in season 8, but for now it seems like he’s still on team Dany and won’t be leading an army against her.

If the information is true and Rissmann joins the cast, this isn’t going to be his first time venturing back to older, archaic times. He is also known for his role as Tekil in BBC America’s The Last Kingdom, which follows the battles between the Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings during the 9th century, so he’s sure to fit right into the bloody world of Westeros.
